Osaka Expo 2025 opened last month and has already surpassed 500,000 visitors in the first week, proving to be an event worth checking out. Taking place in Osaka (Japan) from April 13 to October 13, 2025, this World Expo will bring together over 160 countries and organizations to showcase innovations and ideas that could shape our future.

Discover Osaka Expo 2025

Osaka Expo 2025 will revolve around the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”, with a focus on sustainability, new technologies, and global cooperation. It’s an opportunity to explore how different countries and cultures are addressing some of the world’s most pressing issues. Expect a mix of interactive exhibits, tech demonstrations, and cultural experiences that explore a wide range of ideas for improving our future.

Pavilions to Explore

One of the highlights of any World Expo is the national pavilions, where each participating country presents its culture, technologies, and innovations. The Japan Pavilion will focus on “innovative harmony,” blending advanced technology with traditional Japanese art and design. Expect immersive exhibits that explore Japan’s vision for a future where nature and technology coexist seamlessly.

The Kansai Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka celebrates this Japanese region’s rich history, culture, innovation, and green energy under the theme “The Brilliance of Kansai’s Rich History and Its Present Day.” It features exhibits from nine prefectures—Shiga, Kyoto, Hyogo, Nara, Wakayama, Tottori, Tokushima, Fukui, and Mie—each with its own display area showcasing local traditions, crafts, and travel highlights. The pavilion’s white exterior uses projection mapping and paper-cut designs to create a striking visual effect. If you’re curious about what makes Kansai so special, this is the perfect place to explore it all in one immersive space.

Latest Technologies

If you’re into technology, Osaka Expo 2025 will not disappoint. With everything from virtual reality to smart cities, the Expo will give visitors a glimpse into how technology might shape our daily lives in the future.

The “Nest for Reborn” Pavilion offers a captivating glimpse into the future of health and innovation. Visitors can experience the “Future Human Washing Machine,” an AI-powered pod that gently cleanses the body using ultra-fine bubbles, while monitoring stress levels and providing soothing visuals and sounds for a truly relaxing experience. Another highlight is the iPS cell-based myocardial cell sheet, showcasing the potential of induced pluripotent stem cells in regenerative medicine. These exhibits embody the pavilion’s theme of “REBORN,” inviting guests to explore a future where technology and well-being harmoniously converge.

Innovative Architecture

At Expo 2025 Osaka, the architecture itself is part of the adventure, and one pavilion that’s turning heads is null² (pronounced “null-null”). Designed to inspire creativity and curiosity, null² features a futuristic, minimalist design that feels like a blend of art and technology. The pavilion’s striking mirror-coated surface creates an illusion of endless reflection, allowing it to seamlessly blend into its surroundings and change with the light. Inside, interactive installations and digital art invite visitors to engage, offering an immersive experience that pushes the boundaries of design. Whether you’re into cutting-edge art or experimental architecture, null² offers a truly unique, thought-provoking experience.

And then there’s the Grand Ring, the massive wooden structure that unites the entire Expo site in a warm, natural embrace. Built with sustainably sourced Japanese timber, this awe-inspiring circular roof blends traditional craftsmanship with modern engineering to create a space that feels both grounded and forward-thinking. It’s more than just a ring—it’s a symbol of harmony between people, nature, and technology. Whether you’re walking beneath its sweeping curves or pausing to admire the view, the Grand Ring makes every moment at the Expo feel like part of something bigger.

Meet Myaku-Myaku: The Face of Expo 2025

No visit to Osaka Expo 2025 is complete without spotting Myaku-Myaku, the Expo’s unforgettable official mascot. With its quirky, jelly-like form, Myaku-Myaku has quickly become a viral sensation online—loved by some, puzzled by others, but impossible to ignore. The name comes from the Japanese word myaku, meaning “pulse” or “vein,” symbolizing the Expo’s themes of life, connection, and continuity. Designed to be both strange and endearing, Myaku-Myaku embodies the spirit of curiosity and creativity that runs through the entire event. His design might seem unusual at first, but give it time—he just might grow on you!

Osaka has so much to offer outside the Expo, from historical landmarks to vibrant entertainment districts. You can explore Osaka Castle, a majestic symbol of the city’s rich history, or stroll through Dotonbori, famous for its neon lights and delicious street food. Osaka also boasts fantastic shopping at districts like Shinsaibashi and Namba, with everything from trendy boutiques to unique local shops.
