REFRESHING THE SOUL IN SEOUL!

SCRAP’S COMPANY TRIP TO SOUTH KOREA

BY SCRAP Global Team

Last month, SCRAP as an entire company went on a 3-day trip to Seoul, South Korea! The goal of this trip? To let loose and have fun! You can imagine the amount of meticulous planning that went into coordinating a large group of people, but it ended in a huge success and we were able to enjoy ourselves to the fullest and refresh our minds. Let’s take a look at some of the fun activities packed into our trip!

Korean Food and Unique Experiences!

Food and cuisine is always a highlight on any trip, and this time was no exception! We walked the busy streets of Namdaemun Market and tried all kinds of classic Korean street foods, went to a local fish market to have the freshest meal prepared right before our eyes, and had a lively toast over Korean barbeque and drinks. Enjoying hearty meals together kept us warm during the freezing cold of winter in Korea.

There were also many opportunities to try some unique experiences special to Korea, like visiting a K-pop idol experience center, or attending a kimchi-making class!

Escape Games in Seoul!

As a company of puzzle enthusiasts, many of us couldn’t keep ourselves away from the opportunity to try out some escape games in Korea! In groups of 6, we went to try out a few games and immersive experiences that were available in English. Since the majority of SCRAP members are Japanese-speakers, the Global Team had the added task of translating the story and instructions during the game, but despite that extra step, our teams expertly cleared the games with time to spare. Overall, we were impressed with the technology and game design, and we found the differences in the evolution of Korean escape games versus Japanese escape games to be very interesting!

Company Social Event

On the night of the second day, the entire company gathered together for a lively social event, which provided us with a good opportunity to deepen our bonds with members from other departments and teams within SCRAP. (Since we have locations all across Japan, some teams located in different prefectures rarely get the chance to meet each other in person!).

During the day, we were broken out into groups randomly and given the task to create a multiple choice quiz question using a photo taken during the trip based on the theme of “new discovery”. These questions were presented during the social event, and the person who answered the most correctly would win a cash prize. As expected of a company of creative minds, many teams hid little puzzles in their photos!

We at SCRAP found that this trip served as a way to strengthen our bonds with each other and take a well-deserved breather from our creative endeavors and find new inspiration. The theme for our trip was “new discoveries”, and indeed we encountered many new experiences to hold onto for the future. We at the Global Team as well, will strive to boldly face new challenges and opportunities to provide high-quality content for our non-Japanese-speaking audiences.
